how do i sign up?

Requirements


  1. The applicant identifies as Afro-descendant and is between the ages of 18 and 20 years old (or will be 18 by the traveling date).
  2. The applicant has not travelled to Africa in the past 10 years, preferably has never traveled abroad (specifically Africa).
  3. The applicant must have completed their high school and obtain their diploma or GED. Application can be submitted during the last year of high school, but a contestant can only be approved by providing proof of high school completion.
  4. The applicant has to be an active volunteer with Orijin Foundation and participate in the various activities of the organization for at least 1 year prior to travel date and complete a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer time with Orijin Foundation and/or designated partners.
  5. A registration fee ($250.00) will serve as a symbolic deposit from the applicants.

Over a 10-day immersive program, fellows will participate in a variety of cultural and professional enrichment activities tailored to help them explore their personal and professional aspirations. During their stay, fellows will engage with cutting-edge companies, socially conscious organizations, prestigious educational institutions, and welcoming communities in Rwanda. 


We aim to accompany our first cohort of young adults on this life-changing adventure in June 2026.

We selected Rwanda, in East Africa, as the project’s base because it embodies resilience, strength, and the power to thrive in the face of adversity



  1. Airfare (roundtrip) to and from Kigali to their respective departing airport
  2. Lodging for 10 days 
  3. Transportation-Pick up and drop off at the airport in Kigali, and transportation to the different scheduled activities
  4. Two (2) meals a day and access to provisions in the home
  5. Cultural & touristic sites
  6. Volunteer & Internship hours with our partners 


There will be a modest registration fee ($250.00) that will serve as a symbolic deposit from the applicants. The whole experience will be funded by the Orijin Foundation through the support of our funders, sponsors & partners.


5 finalists will be selected for the fellowship.


Finalists will be interviewed by committee of the Orijin Foundation, in a face-to-face, or virtual setting to determine recipients. Business attire required.


  1. Must complete a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer time with Orijin Foundation and/or designated partners over a duration of 1 year.
  2. Must have a valid passport 
  3. Must be available for the scheduled time of traveling
  4. Must provide a copy of high school diploma
  5. Must participate in, at least, 2 activities from the organization
  6. $250.00 registration fee


We will open registration to the project soon! The deadline to complete all criterias and submit your application will be January 31st, 2026.
