Se Pam Collectives is proud to introduce Chakacha as one of their load-bearing dances that will be pushed to the forefront. The Chakacha experience has been put together in collaboration, supervision, and guidance of none other than the world-renown choreographer/dancer/teacher Brayo Judah (from Kenya). It has always been of the utmost importance that all aspects of information, theory, and practice, be relayed accurately and with integrity to provide everyone with the most authentic experience! Chakacha is a traditional dance from coastal Kenya that uses percussions to challenge the control of waist winding. It is a challenging dance that calls upon a multitude of muscle groups and tests one's balance. The music is enchanting and one will recognize some Arabic influence to it. It is a celebration of contradictions; control vs release of inhibitions, anchored in tradition vs well adapted to the base modern African dancing.
It is not being taught anywhere else in the USA exclusively and in detail. This class is not an overview but is intended to introduce this dance and its benefits as a lifestyle. It is for women only (18 and older). The cycle consists of 8 classes.
The second cycle of 2023 will begin June 14th 2023
